Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

Big, brash, bold and fun, Ripley’s Believe It or Not presents all things weird and wonderful to those who pass through its doors. Located conveniently on Dam Square, in the heart of the city, this Amsterdam attraction will keep the whole family fascinated for hours. Ripley’s Believe It or Not has the honour of being one of the weirdest attractions in Amsterdam and will delight young and old alike. It is certainly the only place in the city where you’ll find authentic shrunken human heads and cannibal skulls.

Odditorium of amazement

In Ripley’s Believe It or Not you will find over 500 exhibits and artefacts, laid out across five floors, all bearing the hallmarks of being considered unusual, fascinating, weird, odd or shocking. You can discover strange and rare items collected by curious explorer Robert Ripley. More than just fun, you will get the opportunity to see a real megalodon shark jaw, exotic primitive objects, prehistoric animal skeletons, and some of the most remarkable natural, human, scientific or artistic oddities. Even small children will find plenty to amaze them at every turn, like the 7-meter tall Transformer, made entirely of car parts.

Ripley’s bizarre stories

The one thing that unites everything on display in this strange place is Ripley himself. If he considered it bizarre or unconventional, you can learn the story behind it at Ripley’s Believe It or Not. With 19 themed galleries, everything here is strange but true. Stand next to the tallest man on earth to see how you measure up or get up-close to the world’s most tattooed woman. From the weirdest Guinness World Record holders to some of the most extraordinary creatures on Earth, you will learn hundreds of bizarre factoids as you venture through the wondrous museum galleries.

Experience another reality

Along with Ripley’s strange collections from around the world, you can also experience futuristic fascinations like the immersive 5D moving cinema. During your visit, you can also boggle your mind with optical illusions, take a trippy route through the Space Tunnel, play interactive mind games, and experience virtual reality. You are allowed to take photographs, so feel free to fully document your trip through this strange place.

Ripley’s Lounge

For a complete change of pace, on the fourth floor of Ripley’s museum of oddities, you will find an impressive attic-style lounge offering you bird’s-eye views over Dam Square. You can grab a bite to eat in this designer lounge, enjoying Dutch and American specialities, and or just have a coffee whilst your eyes explore this beautiful space.
